Job summary

Building Careers UK are recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for a Wirral-based PQS consultancy, specialising in fast-track fit-out and refurbishment projects. You will deliver professional quantity surveying and commercial services across a portfolio of projects from pre-construction to final account.

The ideal candidate will have proven QS experience in fit-out or building, strong cost planning, procurement and tendering, and a client-facing mindset.

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within fit-out, refurbishment or building environments.

Responsibilities

• Providing Quantity Surveying services across fit-out and refurbishment projects.
• Cost planning and budget development.
• Preparing and reviewing estimates and tender documentation.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and project information.
• Procurement and tender analysis.
• Obtaining and analysing contractor and supplier quotations.
• Preparing and reviewing valuations and payment applications.
• Cost reporting and forecasting.
• Monitoring project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Managing variations and change control.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Providing cost and commercial advice to clients.
• Managing contractor accounts.
• Preparing and negotiating final accounts.
• Attending client, contractor and project meetings.
• Liaising with design and project management teams.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting.

About the Company

Our client is an established Quantity Surveying and Project Consultancy practice based on the Wirral, providing professional commercial and cost management services across the construction sector.

The business works across a varied portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on fast-track fit-out and refurbishment schemes, providing clients with commercial advice and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and play a key role in the commercial management of their project portfolio.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing professional quantity surveying and commercial services across a range of fast-track fit-out projects.

You will work closely with clients, contractors, design teams and project managers, providing cost advice and commercial management from pre-construction through to final account.

This is an excellent opportunity for a QS looking to develop their career within a PQS consultancy, working on fast-paced and varied fit-out projects.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor
• Experience within fit-out, refurbishment or building
• Consultancy / PQS experience would be advantageous
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience with cost planning, procurement and tendering
• Strong valuation, variation and final account experience
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong numerical and analytical ability
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Confident working with clients and contractors
• Strong Excel and IT skills
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification
• Full UK driving licence advantageous
