Project Quantity Surveyor/Quantity Surveyor
Central London. Permanent role with salary up to £60k basic + benefits.

Our client is an established PQS practice employing around 15 QS staff in Central London. They’re seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (minimum 3 years’ post-degree experience) to join the team and provide immediate support across a portfolio of retail, fit-out and residential projects. The role will involve stepping into live schemes currently managed at Associate level, alongside supporting a growing pipeline of commercial and refurbishment work.
Representative projects include:
- New veterinary clinic – on site to finish in September 2026
- Private members club – new Cricket Pavilion – let to contract, post contract work
- New co-working building – fit-out works to a listed building in East London
- Retail unit in Battersea Power Station – agreed final contract sum with contractor, about to start on site
Key qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience as a professional Quantity Surveyor (retail, fit-out and/or commercial sectors; high-end residential experience preferred)
- Strong all-round commercial capability across pre- and post-contract duties
- Ability to manage and resolve commercial risks, delays and design changes
- Experience delivering retail fit-out projects or projects in higher-end environments
- Confident managing multiple projects and stepping into live schemes
- Familiar with JCT contracts and commercial reporting processes
- Ideally working towards APC / MRICS (minimum BSc or MSc QS degree)
- Full working eligibility to work in the UK (no visa transfer/support offered)
Responsibilities
Project & Commercial Management
- Take ownership of selected live projects from handover, ensuring continuity across pre- and post-contract stages
- Administer contracts (predominantly JCT), including valuations, variations and final accounts
- Manage cost reporting, cashflow forecasting and financial controls across multiple projects
- Lead on final accounts negotiations and close-out activities
Pre-Construction & Procurement
- Prepare cost plans, tender documentation and undertake tender analysis
- Manage contractor procurement and provide recommendations
- Support value engineering exercises to achieve project budgets
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants and contractors
- Provide clear commercial advice and reporting to stakeholders
- Support delivery within constrained environments including live projects
