Job summary

Building Careers UK is recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a Wirral-based PQS consultancy specialising in fast-track fit-out and refurbishment projects. You'll support the senior commercial team across multiple schemes and gain exposure to cost planning, procurement, valuations and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Experience as Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Trainee QS.
• Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification.
• Experience in fit-out, refurbishment or building would be advantageous.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Good IT skills, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supporting Quantity Surveyors with the commercial management of projects
• Assisting with cost planning and budgeting
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender information
• Assisting with measurements and take-offs
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Supporting tender preparation and procurement
• Assisting with valuations and payment applications
• Monitoring project costs and expenditure
• Assisting with cost reports and forecasts
• Managing and recording variations and change
• Supporting the preparation of final accounts
• Attending site and project meetings when required
• Liaising with clients, contractors and project teams
• Maintaining accurate commercial records
• Assisting with commercial and contractual queries
• Supporting senior surveyors across multiple fast-track projects

About the Company

Our client is an established Quantity Surveying and Project Consultancy practice based on the Wirral, providing professional commercial and cost management services across the construction sector.

The business works across a varied portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on fast-track fit-out and refurbishment schemes, providing clients with commercial advice and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team and develop their career within a consultancy environment.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the senior commercial team across a range of fast-track fit-out projects.

You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, assisting with cost planning, procurement, valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts while working closely with clients, contractors and project teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for an AQS looking to progress their career within a PQS consultancy and gain strong exposure to the fit-out sector.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Trainee QS
• Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification
• Some experience within fit-out, refurbishment or building would be advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good understanding of construction processes
• Good IT skills, particularly Excel
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Commercially aware with a willingness to learn and progress
• Full UK driving licence advantageous
