Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer focused on quantitative investment and trading firms in London. You will partner with researchers, engineers, and technical leaders to apply OpenAI’s models to research and production workflows, combining quant insights with hands-on coding to deliver measurable business impact.

You will design, build, and deploy AI systems, evaluate approaches, and guide decisions on model behavior, reliability, latency, and cost.

Qualifications

• Experience applying AI/ML in production environments.
• Ability to translate customer needs into practical AI deployments.
• Hands-on coding, evaluation, and production integration skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to apply OpenAI models to client workflows.
• Build prototypes, evaluation harnesses, and reference implementations.
• Make technical decisions across model behavior, latency, cost, safety, and governance.
• Lead workshops to transfer know-how to quant teams and engineers.
