Job summary

Cambridge Science Park is seeking a quality operations professional to help build world-class products for the communications industry in a Lean Manufacturing environment.

You will be involved in assembly, inspection and test of micro-components, plus incoming material quality checks and test of electronic parts, with data analysis to support prototypes and non-conformance investigations.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and safety awareness are key to this role.
  • Evidence of strong practical skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of processes.
  • Ability to implement those processes.
  • Able to interpret engineering proposals and liaise with other disciplines.
  • Able to follow work instructions.
  • Create work instructions, if required.
  • Capable of working efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • An excellent team player who can positively influence the team and improve process times, quality and yield.
  • Familiar with using Microsoft Excel or MES data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Test products or subassemblies for function or quality.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
  • Manage waste in accordance with policies and transport accordingly to waste collection points.
  • Prepare and assemble materials.
  • Set up and operate test equipment in accordance with manufacturing practices and standard work procedures.
  • Assist Engineers in developing, building and testing prototypes, new products, processes or procedures.
  • Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production using tools such as callipers, micrometres, gauges.
  • Inspect materials and prototype parts for quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date logs and tracking documentation and systems.
  • Participate in planning and scheduling to meet delivery timelines.
  • Develop and create documents like Standard Work Instructions, Batch records, quality and productivity reports.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety and Environment regulations.
  • Manage work area to 5S standards.
  • Measure and record data related to equipment and processes.
  • Communicate with peers, Engineers, management and cross-functional teams.
