Job summary

HUBER+SUHNER Polatis in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Quality Technician to support lean manufacturing and QA in the development of world-class products for the communications industry. You will participate in assembly, inspection and test of micro-components, and contribute to process development.

You will work under minimal supervision, follow work instructions, and collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to drive quality and yield improvements.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and health & safety awareness are essential.
• Evidence of strong practical skills is essential.
• Ability to understand and implement manufacturing processes.
• Able to interpret engineering proposals and liaise with other disciplines.
• Able to follow work instructions and create new ones if required.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision and contributing ideas to improve times, quality and yield.
• Familiar with using Microsoft Excel or MES systems for data entry.

Responsibilities

• Test products or subassemblies for function or quality.
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
• Prepare and assemble materials.
• Set up and operate test equipment according to procedures.
• Assist Engineers in developing and testing prototypes and processes.
• Calibrate equipment to ensure quality production using tools (calipers, micrometres, gauges).
• Inspect materials and prototype parts for quality and compliance with specs.
• Maintain and update logs and tracking documentation.
