ePropelled is a leading developer of advanced electric propulsion systems, intelligent motor control technologies, and high-efficiency power electronics for aerospace, defence, UAV, marine, and industrial applications.

As our manufacturing operations continue to expand in Coventry, we are seeking a Quality Technician to support incoming inspection, production quality assurance, and continuous improvement activities. This role is critical in ensuring that materials, components, assemblies, and finished products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and traceability.

Role Summary

The Quality Technician will be responsible for supporting quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process, from incoming inspection of supplier components through to final inspection of completed products.

Working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams, you will help ensure that products are manufactured in accordance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards. The role will involve hands‑on inspection activities, non‑conformance management, root‑cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Incoming Inspection
  • Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, machined components, electronic assemblies, and purchased parts against engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Verify supplier documentation, certificates of conformity, and material certifications.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using manual inspection equipment and gauges.
  • Coordinate CMM inspections and specialist measurement activities where required.
  • Ensure full traceability of incoming materials and components.
  • Raise and manage Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected materials.
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding quality concerns and corrective actions.
Production Quality Control
  • Conduct in‑process inspections throughout manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Support first‑off, first article, and final inspection activities.
  • Assist with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), ISIR, and PPAP activities where applicable.
  • Verify adherence to manufacturing processes, work instructions, and quality procedures.
  • Monitor production quality performance and identify trends or recurring issues.
  • Support containment activities and disposition of non‑conforming product.
Quality Systems & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with traceability and record retention requirements.
  • Support internal audits and external customer audits.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and internal quality management systems.
  • Support document control and quality system activities where required.
Non‑Conformance & Root Cause Analysis
  • Raise, document, and track NCRs and quality issues.
  • Support investigations into product and process non‑conformities.
  • Assist with root cause analysis activities using recognised methodologies, including:
    • 8D
    • 5 Whys
    • FMEA
  • Support implementation and verification of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Identify recurring defects and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to reducing scrap, rework, and customer quality escapes.
  • Assist with quality data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a manufacturing quality, inspection, or production quality role.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience using inspection equipment including:
    • Micrometers
    • Bore gauges
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Experience managing inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with production teams and suppliers.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset and analytical approach.
  • Experience within aerospace, automotive, defence, motorsport, electronics, or electric propulsion industries.
  • Knowledge of electric motors, power electronics, or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Familiarity with:
    • PPAP
    • ISIR
    • FAIR / AS9102
    • Control Plans
    • SPC
    • MSA
  • Experience working within an AS9100-certified environment.
  • Knowledge of supplier quality processes and incoming inspection systems.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits.
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline; or
  • Engineering apprenticeship with relevant quality inspection experience; or
  • Equivalent practical experience gained within a manufacturing environment.
