Job description

Job Title: Quality & Process Engineer

Location: Irlam, Greater Manchester

Pay Range: GBP45,000 - GBP50,000

Contract Type: Perm

As Quality & Process Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for driving the quality performance of the organisation’s Production operations, focusing on establishing effective quality & process controls which strive for world-class levels of customer quality and reduced waste throughout the manufacturing value stream.

The role will also support the effective implementation of the Business Management system and new products & processes, working with internal stakeholders to standardise methodologies and ensure compliance to documented procedures in the manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day Quality & Process Engineering activities within the Value Stream.
  • Lead APQP deployment and develop PFMEAs, Control Plans, and robust process controls.
  • Monitor and analyse production data to drive quality improvements and reduce waste.
  • Lead and support root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, DMAIC, PPS.
  • Implement and sustain SPC, process capability studies, and data-driven improvements.
  • Provide Quality support for NPI, ensuring compliance and seamless integration into production.
  • Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the Quality function.
  • Maintain and improve the Business Management System documentation.
  • Respond to customer quality concerns, driving corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage supplier quality issues within the assigned value stream.
  • Routinely report on Quality KPIs and support the annual improvement planning cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Strong background in Quality & Process Engineering in a regulated manufacturing environment (AS9100 Rev D or ISO9001).
  • Proficient in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, FAIR, ISIR, SPC.
  • Hands-on experience with process engineering tools: Time Studies (MOST), SOPs, VSM, Spaghetti Diagrams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings including GD&T.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence and support cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.
