Join Our Team as a Quality Officer at A&P Tyne

We're launching a new 12-month project that will be both challenging and demanding. We are looking for a dedicated Quality Officer to join our growing team at A&P Tyne.

Supporting the Quality Manager and Quality Engineers, you will ensure that quality standards are maintained and improved. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience, both internally and externally, to progress into a Quality Engineer position.

Who are A&P Tyne?

With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we build units for vessels and assemble them together.

Our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall includes a high bay construction hall for new builds, a panel line, profile cutting, and sub-assembly areas.

Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control, we work closely with our customers to deliver what they need, when they need it.

What will you do?
  1. Collaborate with our Quality Engineers, Welding Coordinators, Project Managers, and Fabrication team to ensure examinations are conducted according to plans.
  2. Review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), monitor progress, and sign off completed activities, depending on your skillset.
  3. Ensure manufacturing records are accurate and up to date.
  4. Carry out inspections.
  5. Compile weekly reports and participate in progress and quality meetings.
  6. Develop your skills in all areas to prepare for a future role as an Engineer.
What are we looking for?
  1. Experience in quality within a welding, fabrication, or manufacturing environment.
  2. Knowledge of QA/QC standards.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think broadly.
  4. Aptitude to learn and understand structural, welding, and build drawings.
  5. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Diplomacy, confidentiality, and excellent interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders at various levels.
  7. Ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  9. Personal Growth: An opportunity to make a significant impact and learn from experts in marine and structural engineering.
  10. Financial Security: Benefits include a pension with up to 4% employer contribution and life cover at 7x your salary.
  11. Healthy Living: Support for healthy living through sick pay, health cash plans, dental, optical, physiotherapy, and wellness services.
  12. Work-life Balance: 25 days of annual leave plus Bank Holidays, and support during family life changes such as maternity, paternity, and parental leave.
