Job summary

Theo James Recruitment Ltd is assisting an established engineering business in Middlesbrough to hire a Quality Lead. The role focuses on managing certification and vendor approvals, maintaining key specifications, and helping develop the Quality Management System.

You will report to the Quality Assurance Manager, work with procurement, site teams, and suppliers to resolve quality issues, and drive improvement through data analysis and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in vendor certification and approval within energy, renewables, natural resources or construction.
• Knowledge of quality systems, technical standards and applicable regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate findings to suppliers and internal teams.
• Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Quality qualification or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality systems and standards in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
• Review specifications for incoming materials and assess new suppliers.
• Set vendor assessment requirements and monitor supplier performance.
• Work with procurement and suppliers to resolve supply chain quality issues.
• Use quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Oversee inspections against technical codes and standards.
• Investigate defects, report root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
