Job summary

Winsearch is recruiting for a Quality Inspector in West Manchester to join a well-established engineering manufacturer serving offshore oil and gas. The role is full-time and permanent with a competitive hourly rate and 39-hour week.

You will perform various inspections, use precision measuring equipment, read engineering drawings, and compile inspection records while supporting production schedules and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proven experience using precision measuring equipment and inspection processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform goods-inward, pre-paint, in-process and final inspections.
  • Inspect components against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, bore gauges, Verniers, etc.).
  • Complete dimensional inspection reports and quality documentation.
  • Approve and sign off inspection documentation and markings.
  • Carry out minor rework and paint touch-ups as required.
  • Support packing and assembly activities and meet production deadlines.
  • Collaborate with quality, production and engineering teams.

Quality Inspector

Location: West Manchester

Salary: £20.32 per hour (£792.48 per week)

Hours: Full Time, Permanent

Reporting To: Quality Manager

About the Opportunity

Winsearch is recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering manufacturer serving the offshore oil and gas sector. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join their quality team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform goods-inward, pre-paint, in-process and final inspections.
  • Inspect components against engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use a range of precision measuring equipment, including:
    • External micrometers
    • Internal and 3-point bore micrometers
    • Depth micrometers
    • Verniers
    • Gauges and associated inspection equipment
  • Complete dimensional inspection reports and related quality documentation.
  • Carry out visual inspections to identify defects, damage, burrs, weld spatter, paint quality issues and marking discrepancies.
  • Approve and sign off inspection documentation.
  • Stamp and identify completed parts in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Undertake minor rework activities where required, including paint touch-ups and thread tapping.
  • Support packing and assembly activities as needed.
  • Work efficiently to production schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across quality, production and engineering functions.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of inspection processes and quality standards.
Desirable Experience
  • Knowledge of machining processes such as turning, milling and general precision engineering.
Qualifications
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Working Hours

39-hour working week

  • Monday to Thursday: 06:45am to 3:15pm
  • Friday: 06:45am to 2:15pm
