Job summary

Questech Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Quality Inspector to support the UK Quality function at a site near South Elmsall, West Yorkshire. The role focuses on visual and dimensional inspection, documentation, and traceability for machined, fabricated and bought-in parts.

You will interpret drawings, maintain inspection records, escalate defects and ensure compliance documentation is kept up to date. Working Monday to Friday, pay is an hourly rate of £18–£21 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role
• Knowledge of inspection tools and instruments
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Comfortable working in a shop environment
• Proficiency using MS Office is a plus
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection requirements and project documentation
• Use business systems to retrieve, check and update quality records
• Carry out incoming inspection of bought-in parts, materials and components
• Maintain traceability between PO, material certificate, part number, project and inspection record
• Escalate defects, drawing issues, missing documentation and inspection concerns to Welding Engineer
• Maintain clear documentation of certified material using the ERP system
• Perform tasks to company standards to efficiently and effectively meet department goals
• Communicate with other team members and adapt to changing priorities during shifts
• Ensure 5 standards of care: Safety, Quality, Team, Schedule, Cost
• Attend meetings, seminars and training sessions as required
• Perform duties per company policies and expectations
• Complete inspections efficiently while maintaining documentation for certified material and compliance files

QUALITY INSPECTOR

We are recruiting for a Quality Inspector to work for our client who are located near to the South Elmsall area, West Yorkshire.

The Quality Inspector is responsible for supporting the UK Quality function through a combination of visual inspection, dimensional checks, quality documentation, traceability control and project quality coordination. The role provides visible shop-floor quality support while also ensuring that material certificates, inspection records, welding compliance documentation, QA packs and project quality files are complete, accurate, traceable and correctly stored. The role supports machined, fabricated, assembled and bought-in parts, helping to identify non-conformances, maintain inspection records, escalating quality issues and support continuous improvement activity.

THE DUTIES OF A QUALITY INSPECTOR:

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection requirements and project documentation.
• Use business systems to retrieve, check and update quality records.
• Carry out incoming inspection of bought-in parts, materials and components.
• Maintain traceability between purchase order, material certificate, part number, project and inspection record.
• Escalate defects, drawing issues, missing documentation and inspection concerns the Welding Engineer.

• Communicate with other team members and maintain flexibility as priorities change throughout the shift.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:

• 1-3 plus years of experience as a Quality Inspector or similar role.
• Knowledge of inspection tools and instruments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Comfortable working in a shop environment.
• Proficiency using MS Office is a plus.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility with work schedule, including the ability to work additional hours beyond the standard schedule in any given week as needed. Overtime may be needed to meet production schedules.
