Job summary

PSM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure components meet the highest quality standards and customer specifications. You will move between the company’s three quality areas to gain comprehensive QC experience and contribute to meeting delivery targets.

Responsibilities include verifying dimensions, inspecting goods inwards, and recording non-conformances. You will also assist with calibration and be involved in 8D discussions when required.

Qualifications

  • Reading engineering drawings is required.
  • Calibrating equipment and gauges is needed.
  • Good maths understanding is essential.
  • Attention to detail is important for quality checks.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills are expected.
  • Ability to solve problems is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure components produced are of the best quality and meet customer specifications.
  • Verify dimensions and inspect first offs selected by setters or operators.
  • Perform goods inwards inspection of materials and components from suppliers.
  • Inspect components before dispatch to customers and record non-conformances.
  • Create quality improvement plans and identify root causes for non-conformance.
  • Assist with calibration of company equipment as required.
  • Ensure adherence to correct methods and maintain area health and safety standards.
  • Attend daily tier meetings and support customers/visitors as needed.

Job description

PSM Recruitment is looking for a Quality Inspector. The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that components produced are of the best quality and correct to customer specifications. You must be prepared to move around the company's three quality areas to build up an all-round knowledge of QC procedures for this position.

The Quality Department is focused on ensuring that all work produced by the different sections in the company meets the agreed company quality standards and fully complies with the clients' drawings and other special instructions provided with the order. The aim of the Quality Department is to ensure that all customers receive high-quality product and that we meet delivery performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To ensure that components produced are of the best quality
  • To ensure that components produced are correct to customer specifications
  • To verify dimensions
  • Check first offs that the setter or operator require second checking
  • To carry out good's inwards inspection of material and components received from suppliers
  • Inspect components before they are sent out to customer
  • Record non-conforming products
  • Create plans to improve product quality
  • Identify causes for non conformance and then work to improve the product quality and discuss recommended actions at any 8D investigation meetings
  • Assist with the calibration of company equipment as required
  • To ensure that you are working to the correct methods
  • To be responsible for the control of Health & Safety and cleanliness in the area
  • Attend daily tier meetings
  • Assist with customers/visitors if required
  • If required visit customers to assist with sorting non-conforming product
Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • The ability to read Engineering Drawings.
  • The ability to use a range of specialist measuring equipment i.e. - Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Slip Gauges, X-Ray, Clock & Stand, Depth Micrometer and RA Tester
  • Calibration of equipment and gauges
  • A good understanding of maths
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Problem solving ability

Hours of Work: 39 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00, Fridays 08:00 - 13:00)
