Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Software Engineer in Test within the Quality Engineering group. You will design and implement tests, tooling, and automation to ensure the PlayStation toolchain quality from the start, collaborating with development teams and maintaining CI pipelines.

You will write Python scripts, analyse results, and contribute to internal tooling and diagnostics to improve testing efficiency and reliability. A strong learning mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• A BSc in a relevant technical or scientific field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals for testing, tooling, automation, or infrastructure.
• Understanding of software testing techniques from coursework, projects, internships, or experience.
• Interest in Quality Engineering and testing practices.
• Ability to write and maintain unit and system tests; experience with testing frameworks is a plus.
• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python, to automate tests and reporting.
• Ability to build practical tools or automation from small scripts to internal tooling.
• Analytical problem-solving approach to investigate failures and patterns.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly.
• Collaborative mindset to work across teams.
• Learning mindset to develop skills and quality judgment over time.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to design tests, tooling, and test systems for new ToolChain features.
• Design and develop internal tools to improve test execution and diagnostics.
• Contribute to testing tools and frameworks to validate the ToolChain’s quality.
• Maintain and improve Jenkins CI test jobs for reliable execution and feedback.
• Write Python-based automation and scripts for testing, analysis, and diagnostics.
• Analyse automated test results to identify failures and trends.
• Investigate issues across test, build, and execution environments.
• Support improvements to testability and diagnostics for better failure understanding.
• Participate in code and documentation reviews to improve quality and workflows.
• Learn and apply Quality Engineering practices and automation design.
