Job summary

NRL Group is seeking a Site Quality Engineer (Piping) to support a major UK nuclear construction project in Manchester. You will oversee piping erection quality, witness inspections, review ITPs, and ensure traceability of welds and components.

The role requires 3–5 years in piping quality on large-scale industrial or nuclear projects, a mechanical engineering degree, and an NDT certification. Familiarity with PESR-PED and regulatory interfaces is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in quality engineering for piping systems in large-scale industrial or nuclear projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical erection processes and quality standards.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety regulations (PESR-PED).
  • Valid certification in non‑destructive testing (NDT).
  • Skilled in interpreting drawings, working with inspection practices and using quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and manage all Witness and Hold Points as per Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Review and approve quality documents, including ITPs, welding procedures and material certificates.
  • Witness inspections and testing activities on piping systems to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with external inspectors and regulatory authorities for inspections and approvals.
  • Identify and report deviations, initiate corrective actions and confirm resolution effectiveness.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for piping components and welds.
  • Ensure timely submission of records and quality documentation.
  • Participate in audits and support quality improvement initiatives.
