Job summary

OSB Group seeks a Quality Engineering Manager (Data) to lead the quality engineering capability across data platforms, pipelines and reporting solutions. This role blends leadership with deep technical involvement, guiding up to 20 engineers across the UK and India while shaping automation and best practices on an Azure-based data estate.

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing Quality Engineering, Test or QA teams within data-centric environments.
• Hands-on experience across data testing, ETL validation, data quality engineering and large-scale data migration or transformation programmes.
• Strong knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks and SQL Server, with advanced SQL skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple data and transformation programmes, from design to production.
• Define and embed quality engineering standards, frameworks and best practices across OSB Group's Azure-based data platforms.
• Drive test automation and AI-enabled quality engineering approaches to improve efficiency, coverage and speed of delivery.
• Design, review and execute testing for complex ETL pipelines, data warehouses, reporting solutions and analytics platforms.
• Validate data solutions across Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks and SQL Server.
• Support quality assurance for large-scale data migration and modernisation programmes, including reconciliation and defect management.

We are recruiting a Quality Engineering Manager (Data) to lead and evolve the quality engineering capability across OSB Group's data platforms, pipelines and reporting solutions. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining people leadership with deep technical involvement across multiple strategic data programmes. You'll lead a team of up to 20 Quality Engineers across the UK and India whilst remaining close to delivery, shaping quality engineering practices, driving automation, and providing technical leadership across our Azure-based data estate.

Working within the Quality Engineering Chapter, you'll partner closely with Data Engineering, Architecture and Product teams to ensure robust, scalable and secure data solutions are delivered with quality embedded throughout the development lifecycle.

This role can be based from our Chatham or Wolverhampton offices and works within our hybrid policy of 3 days in the office.

What you will be doing:

As Quality Engineering Manager (Data), you will provide leadership across multiple concurrent programmes and transformation initiatives, whilst remaining actively involved in the design and implementation of modern quality engineering practices. You will champion quality across the entire data ecosystem, leveraging automation, cloud-native tooling and AI-enabled capabilities to improve efficiency, data reliability and speed of delivery.

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple data and transformation programmes, supporting delivery from design through to production.
• Define and embed quality engineering standards, frameworks and best practices across OSB Group's Azure-based data platforms.
• Drive test automation and AI-enabled quality engineering approaches to improve efficiency, coverage and speed of delivery.
• Design, review and execute testing for complex ETL pipelines, data warehouses, reporting solutions and analytics platforms.

• Support quality assurance for large-scale data migration and modernisation programmes, including reconciliation, validation and defect management.
• Partner closely with engineers, architects and business stakeholders to manage quality risks, improve outcomes and deliver trusted data solutions.

• Deep knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks and SQL Server, with advanced SQL skills for validating complex datasets.
• Experience developing automated testing and quality engineering solutions using tools such as Python, dbt, Great Expectations or similar frameworks.
• Understanding of modern Agile, DevOps and CI/CD practices, including the use of AI-assisted testing and engineering tools.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and business audiences whilst managing multiple priorities and programmes.
