Job summary

Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd. in Sheffield seeks a hands-on Quality Engineer to monitor product conformity, drive CAPA and continuous improvement within the manufacturing process. You will work closely with production teams, customers and suppliers to reduce defects and strengthen process controls.

The role focuses on root cause analysis, process capability improvement, and internal audits under ISO 9001, with opportunities to train staff and contribute to monthly QA reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and internal audits.
• Proficiency with quality management systems and problem-solving techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the day-to-day quality lead across the business with guidance from the Quality Manager.
• Manage and improve the Non-Conformance Register and drive CAPA.
• Lead root cause analysis using 5 Whys and 8D methodologies.
• Analyse monthly quality trends including supplier performance and pyrometry.
• Review and implement customer-specific quality requirements.
• Conduct internal audits and in-process checks to ensure procedures are followed.
• Contribute to monthly QA performance reporting for management.
• Support QMS improvements including document control and training.
• Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the site.
