Job summary

World Class Aerospace Company in Stevenage/ Henlow seeks a Quality Conformance Engineer to support UK manufacturing. You will provide independent visibility that processes are applied across projects, drive process improvements, and reduce project risk while ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will use SAP for non-conformance and collaborate with Quality teams across UK and overseas to achieve quality objectives. The role offers hybrid/remote options with a 37-hour week and 6-month duration.

Qualifications

  • Quality professional with experience in process-based management systems and business improvement.
  • Experience using risk management and problem solving tools (8D, 5Y, PFMEA, etc.).
  • Quality auditing experience and knowledge of EN9100/AS9100.
  • Proven ability to support manufacturing UK operations and supplier interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional quality support to Manufacturing UK; drive cost, time and quality targets.
  • Develop and deliver quality awareness training and process-related guidance.
  • Assess and control product assurance processes; implement risk reduction actions.
  • Audit programmes; report findings and close improvements with management.
  • Interface with Customer Representatives and SAP non-conformance module for improvements.

World Class Aerospace Company based in Stevenage and Henlow is currently looking to recruit a Quality Engineer subcontractor. The role is looking for a Quality professional, experienced in process-based integrated management systems & business improvement in an engineering / manufacturing environment. Experience using both risk management and practical problem solving tools e.g. 8D, 5Y, PFMEA etc. Quality Auditing experience required.

Rate:£35.00 per hour

Location: Stevenage or Henlow

Hybrid / Remote working: 3 days onsite per week. A compressed 4 day week of Monday to Thursday is also possible

Contract:37 Hours per week

Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’

Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Quality Engineer Job Description:

A vacancy has arisen within the Quality function for the position of Quality Conformance Engineer, reporting to the Filton Plan Head of Quality Conformance

An opportunity has arisen for a Product Assurance Engineer to join the Product Assurance Engineering team as they provide professional quality support to the Manufacturing team in the UK. You will provide an independent visibility and assurance that manufacturing and related processes are applied across all Projects. You will provide support and advice on all aspects of quality within UK Manufacturing. You will provide support in the identification and implementation of sustainable Process improvements to existing methods and processes. You will support UK Manufacturing in the identification and reduction of project risk or problem areas / issues associated with process application, process effectiveness or compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Provision of professional support and advice on all aspects of quality within Manufacturing UK; apply quality expertise to critical business issues to support business excellence, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Provision of quality assurance assistance to Manufacturing UK in support of manufacturing excellence including development and delivery of quality awareness and other process and quality-related training.
  • Supporting Manufacturing UK on all programmes to achieve cost, time and quality targets. Assessing and controlling the product assurance quality processes and the resulting outputs.
  • Assuring to and implemented in Company production programmes, and providing the appropriate level of support to improve the effectivity of processes used by the Company Business Management System is correctly tailored Manufacturing UK.
  • Confirm through a programme of Independent assessments and audits that processes and quality requirements are being successfully implemented, applied and improved. Provide reports to Management that identifies the outcome of audits and issues. Monitor and facilitate the progression of any improvements from audit activities and the timely closure of identified issues.
  • Maintaining strong links with Quality Assurance colleagues across the company (UK and Overseas) to enable the dissemination and achievement of Quality Objectives within Manufacturing UK.
  • Work with Product Assurance Managers and other functions to define appropriate risk reduction strategies/action plans
  • Support the development and implementation of the Process Effectiveness Review Programmes
  • Interface with Customer Representatives (DQAFF), when required, to support the mitigation of quality issues
  • Provide advice and help in the use of SAP as the non-conformance management tool and identify SAP improvement with respect to the Quality Module.
  • Facilitation and/or support to various levels of Non-Conformance Review PanelsAnalysis of non-conformance defect data and acting on this data to undertake problem solving investigations identifying defect root cause and corrective action implementation
Skillset/experience required:
  • Ideally qualified to minimum HNC/HND in relevant subject.
  • Quality professional, experienced in process-based integrated management systems & business improvement in an engineering / manufacturing environment. Experience using both risk management and practical problem solving tools e.g. 8D, 5Y, PFMEA etc.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Quality Auditing experience required
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of EN9100/AS9100
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good planning and organising skills to ensure multiple tasks are prioritised and monitored to deliver set objectives
  • Capability to identify sustainable business improvements & ensure effective implementation
  • Recognise and understand internal and external customer requirements, and respond to them
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Highly self-motivated and demonstrate a determination and persistence to deliver results despite obstacles and setbacks
  • Recognise and understand regulatory and certification requirements, and respond to them
  • Understanding of AS9102 –First Article Inspection Requirements
