Job summary

Gregory Martin International seeks a skilled Aerospace Quality Engineer for a full-time role on the Kent/Essex border. The position offers a 4-day week (Mon-Thu) with a salary of £40,000 to £45,000, plus pension, life insurance and other benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the aerospace sector and knowledge of ISO 9000 / AS9100 standards.
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiar with auditing procedures and First Article experience.
  • Problem solving skills (8D) in an engineering environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with 5S principles.
  • Effective written and verbal communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain quality control within manufacturing in line with standards and customer requirements.
  • Assist in FAIR/LAIR compilation and approval processes.
  • Responsible for approval status of test equipment and activities.
  • Responsible for product release and related documentation.
  • Support technical reviews and liaise with team members.
  • Contribute to quality system maintenance per ISO 9001:2008 / AS9100 and audits.
  • Participate in Manufacturing Team meetings to drive improvements.
  • Promote quality achievement and continuous improvement with 5S mindset.
  • Ensure calibrated measurement systems are used for inspection and carry out gauge R&R as directed by QMS.
  • Monitor subcontract performance and report on scrap and rework as per quality plans.

Quality Engineer

Location: Kent / Essex border

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000, 4 day week Monday - Thursday 37 hours, plus pension, life insurance, many other benefits

Our client is looking for a Skilled Aerospace Quality Engineer this role is located on the Kent / Essex border. Please note this is a full-time role but over a 4-day week.

Quality Engineer Duties:
  • To maintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements.
  • Assist in FAIR / LAIR compilation and approving.
  • Responsible for the approval status of the associated test equipment and activities.
  • Responsible for product Release.
  • Assisting in technical reviews as required and liaising with the team.
  • To contribute to the quality system maintenance in accordance with the requirement of ISO 9001:2008 / AS 9100 and is subject to regular audits and reviews.
  • Participate in meetings with the Manufacturing Team.
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout manufacturing showcasing continuous Improvement and 5S Mind set.
  • Ensure the correct use of calibrated measurement systems for the purposes of inspection of product and carry out gauge R&R as directed by QMS.
  • Monitor and report on subcontract performance as directed
  • Monitor scrap and rework in line with quality plans and report.
Quality Engineer Requirements:
  • Experienced in the aerospace sector.
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and specification
  • Familiar with auditing procedures and recent First Article Experience
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Quality and or Aerospace Standards (ISO 9000, AS9100, EASA Part 21, EASA Part 145)
  • Problem Solving Skills within an engineering environment - preferably 8D
  • Continuous Improvement and 5S Mind set
  • Effective communicator at all levels both verbal and written
  • Strong initiative and time management skills, able to balance priorities confidently with minimum supervision
  • Attention to detail, including numeracy
  • Work with colleagues to ensure the implementation of the company’s policies and goals.

Please note this is a full-time role but over a 4-day week.
