Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking a Quality Engineer to support secure, mission-critical solutions in the defence sector. You will drive quality across the software life cycle, champion automation, and help teams deliver reliable, resilient, and secure systems.

The role is on-site in the UK with two days per week on site. You’ll design automated testing, strengthen CI/CD pipelines, and apply risk-based testing across the delivery life cycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in software testing and quality engineering within agile environments.
• Design and implement automated testing solutions and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid GitLab or Git knowledge; strong Java & Spring basics; test automation skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and clear, concise communication.
• Familiarity with security testing and DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated testing frameworks and tests.
• Champion quality engineering and shift-left testing practices.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines to improve delivery velocity.
• Apply risk-based testing across the delivery life cycle.
• Collaborate with Developers, DevOps and Architects to bake quality in from start.
• Contribute to functional, integration, performance, security and accessibility testing.
• Coach teams on testing best practices and continuous improvement.

About the Role

We're seeking a Quality Engineer to support the delivery of secure, mission-critical solutions within the Defence sector. Working in an Agile environment, you'll drive quality throughout the software life cycle, champion automation, and help engineering teams deliver reliable, resilient, and secure systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated testing solutions and frameworks.
• Champion Quality Engineering and shift-left testing practices.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply risk-based testing approaches across the delivery life cycle.
• Collaborate with Developers, DevOps Engineers and Architects to ensure quality is embedded from the outset.
• Contribute to functional, integration, performance, security and accessibility testing.
• Coach teams on testing best practices and continuous improvement.
