Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Leicester, UK location.

The Leicester site is focused on Industrial carbon fiber and glass fiber, feeding into the Automotive, Structural and Marine markets.

This is a hands-on position requiring daily interaction with all areas of the business, in particular Operations. The plant works 24 hours so some flexibility in working hours is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working to resolve Quality issues using industry recognized methodologies. 8D problem solving to reduce customer complaints and internal non-conformities.
  • Root cause analysis to ensure robust fixes for Quality issues and identify corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence, improve schedule adherence and reduce internal waste.
  • Adherence to and maintenance of our sites Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Compile and maintain the Quality KPI’s plus reporting on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Carry out internal audits.
  • Maintain the current document management system, ensuring that all reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Supporting with external certification agency and customer audits.
  • Training and developing operational personnel in good quality practices.
  • Interpretation of customer quality specifications, manufacturing specifications and other customer requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous Improvement activities. Caretaking of own and others Health & Safety.

Key Attributes & Qualifications:

  • HNC or above in an Engineering Subject and/or Automotive / Aerospace industry experience in a Quality role.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Power BI, Dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of PPAP / APQP / FMEA / Lean Thinking Principles.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Understand a wide range of Manufacturing Processes.
  • Time and workload management skills, excellent organizational abilities, communication and people skills.
  • Attention to detail, able to take a methodical and logical approach to work, ability to learn quickly and work within a rapidly changing environment sometimes under pressure.
  • Positive, “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team, internal team and the global team.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
