Flex is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Kendal site in the UK. The role focuses on daily management of quality issues within the IBAR product range, ensuring non-conformances are contained, investigated, and resolved with minimal production disruption.

You will lead root cause investigations (5 Whys, 8D, Ishikawa), run MRB meetings, analyse data, and drive improvements while collaborating with production teams and customers to uphold quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 2+ years in a Quality Engineer role within manufacturing/engineering.
  • Experience managing non-conformances and root-cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and methods like 5 Whys, 8D, FMEA.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and docs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with quality systems use.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with production teams and stakeholders.
  • Internal Auditor qualification and audits experience is a plus.

Job Summary
Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, Axiom, with the spin planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support Axiom, a company focused on critical digital infrastructure and delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Quality Engineer located in Kendal,UK.

Reporting to the Quality Lead (BAR), the Quality Engineer is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of quality issues within the IBAR product range at the K1 Kendal site whilst also providing support to other product lines, at other UK sites as required. This role is primarily focused on the effective control, investigation, and resolution of non-conformances, ensuring minimal disruption to production while maintaining compliance to customer and internal requirements.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Manage internal and external non-conformances, ensuring timely containment, investigation, and corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Ishikawa.
  • Act as the primary quality support for production teams, providing guidance and driving a right-first-time culture.
  • Conduct daily Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to support decisions regarding concessions, rework, and scrap.
  • Analyze quality performance data, identify trends, monitor KPIs, and communicate risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to address quality concerns, provide updates, and support corrective action reporting.
  • Support internal, supplier, and customer audits while ensuring compliance with quality processes and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in a Quality Engineer role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience managing non-conformances and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality methodologies such as 5 Whys, 8D, and FMEA.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using quality systems and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to collaborate with production teams, customers, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Internal Auditor qualification and experience supporting customer or supplier audits would be an advantage.
