Job title: Quality Engineer
Job Type: Temporary Contract
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: 6-12 months with possible extension
Pay Rate: Negotiable/Competitive

We are recruiting on behalf of a world-leading research organisation at the forefront of the UK's nuclear fusion mission. Responsibilities
  1. Own and lead quality assurance and control activities across an operational area.
  2. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and share lessons learned across teams.
  3. Manage and resolve deviations, non-conformances, and quality-related issues.
  4. Lead root cause investigations and corrective action processes.
  5. Support quality management throughout the project delivery lifecycle.
  6. Ensure supplier quality requirements are clearly defined and met.
  7. Assist with FMEA development, control plans, and inspection/test planning.
  8. Conduct on-site and supplier surveillance inspections.
  9. Develop and report on quality performance metrics.
  10. Deliver quality-related training to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
  1. Degree or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline.
  2. Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (or similar) preferred.
  3. 5+ years in a quality assurance role within industrial, engineering, or laboratory environments.
  4. Strong working knowledge of ISO9001 and QA/QC practices.
  5. Familiarity with industrial codes, standards, and quality documentation.
  6. Experience supporting product development and managing QA through full project lifecycles.
  7. Understanding of Lifetime Quality Records and QA grading processes.
  8. Proficiency in quality tools such as A3, DMAIC, and value stream mapping.
  9. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  10. Pragmatic, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused mindset.
  11. 1st or 2nd party auditing experience is desirable.
