Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a Quality Development Advisor to support and develop high-quality school age childcare provision across Salford, including wraparound care, breakfast clubs, holiday provision and HAF programmes.

You will work with childcare providers, schools, childminders and partner agencies to raise standards, deliver training, assist with Ofsted readiness, monitor provision, analyse data, and promote safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a level 3 qualification in Early Years, Play work, Youth or relevant field.
• Professional experience of working within school age childcare provision at management level.
• Ability to support a team in planning and delivering quality school age childcare provision.
• Experience of developing and delivering relevant adult training.
• Knowledge and understanding of child protection protocols and procedures.
• An understanding of the school age childcare sector.
• The ability to travel within the city on a regular basis and the ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• DBS check required; cost (£49.50) is deducted from first four months’ salary.

Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and supporting childcare providers to deliver exceptional services? Do you have experience in school age childcare, play work, wraparound provision, or holiday programmes? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Quality Development Advisor to join our Starting Life Well Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting and developing high-quality school age childcare provision across Salford.

Working closely with childcare providers, schools, childminders, Family Hubs, and partner agencies, you will help ensure that children and families have access to safe, inclusive, and enriching childcare opportunities.

About the Role

As a Quality Development Advisor, you will:

Support and advise school age childcare providers, including wraparound childcare, breakfast clubs, holiday provision, and Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

About you

Ability to provide leadership and ensure the quality of provision to a wide range of school age childcare settings including Childminders, breakfast provision, holiday activities and food providers and other wraparound provisions.

Knowledge and understanding of child protection protocols and procedures.

An understanding of the school age childcare sector.

The ability to travel within the city on a regular basis and the ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment.
