Job summary

Salford City Council is seeking a Quality Development Advisor to support and develop high-quality school age childcare provision across Salford, including wraparound care, breakfast clubs, holiday provision and HAF programmes.

You will work with childcare providers, schools, childminders and partner agencies to raise standards, deliver training, assist with Ofsted readiness, monitor provision, analyse data, and promote safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a level 3 qualification in Early Years, Play work, Youth or relevant field.
• Professional experience of working within school age childcare provision at management level.
• Ability to support a team in planning and delivering quality school age childcare provision.
• Experience of developing and delivering relevant adult training.
• Knowledge and understanding of child protection protocols and procedures.
• An understanding of the school age childcare sector.
• The ability to travel within the city on a regular basis and the ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• DBS check required; cost (£49.50) is deducted from first four months’ salary.

Responsibilities

• Support and advise school age childcare providers, including wraparound childcare, breakfast clubs, holiday provision, and HAF programme.
• Provide guidance to settings to help them meet Ofsted, Local Authority, and Department for Education requirements.
• Lead on quality improvement, supporting providers to achieve and maintain high standards of practice.
• Deliver training, briefings, and professional development opportunities.
• Support providers before and after Ofsted registration and inspections.
• Monitor provision, analyse data, and contribute to sufficiency planning across the city.
• Work collaboratively with partner organisations to ensure children receive the best possible experiences and outcomes.
• Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and continuous improvement across all aspects of provision.
