Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK in Bolton is seeking a Quality Control Technician to conduct sampling, field testing and specimen preparation for Concrete, Asphalt and Quarry products, in line with British standards and company protocols.

You will work within a team under remote supervision, ensuring high data integrity, assisting with test investigations and delivering timely technical support to Commercial, Operations and customers.

  • Adherence to British standards and company protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Maximise cost effective product manufacture through technical support.
  • Maintain product quality levels aligned with drivers and customer requirements.
  • Provide high quality technical support to Commercial, Operations and customers.
  • Carry out sampling, field testing and specimen preparation per standards.
  • Raise NCRs and near hits and feedback on quality issues.

Quality Control Technician Location: Bolton Salary: £32,600 Car: Company Van The Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting sampling, field testing, and specimen preparation tasks for Concrete, Asphalt, and Quarry products, adhering to applicable British standards and company protocols. Heidelberg Technical UK is dedicated to upholding high levels of customer satisfaction by consistently ensuring and enhancing its product range and technical services through the establishment, documentation, and upkeep of a comprehensive quality management program. You will work collaboratively within a team under remote supervision, prioritizing efficiency while upholding outstanding standards and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Accountabilities
  • Maximising the contribution of the technical departments towards ensuring cost effective product manufacture.
  • Establishing and maintaining product quality levels consistent with commercial/operational drivers and customer requirements.
  • Administering high quality technical support to Commercial, Operations and external customers.
  • Other duties as requested by your manager
  • Carry out sampling, field testing and specimen preparation of Concrete, Asphalt and Quarry products in accordance with relevant British / European standards and company procedures.
  • Investigate and feed back to the technical and operations teams on quality issues at relevant sites and depots under their control, including but not limited to:
    • Concrete sampling, testing and preparation
    • Asphalt sampling, testing and preparation
    • Aggregate sampling, testing and preparation
    • Preliminary plant or customer site investigations
    • Preliminary investigation of product issues
    • Review of water demands in RMC including plant M.C testing
    • Review of site practice
    • Review of truck delivery practices / issues
    • Review product consistence variances
    • Raise NCRs and Near Hits as appropriate.
    • Challenge behaviours which demonstrate a negative attitude towards safety and/or quality.
    • Assist with transportation of test specimens.
