Job summary

Thomas Broadbent Centrifuges, Huddersfield, seeks an experienced QC Inspector to join our quality team within a specialist UK engineering manufacturer. The role focuses on dimensional and visual inspection of machined components and welded assemblies, with ferrite testing and PMI duties.

You will read drawings, ensure tolerances are met, raise NCRs, and maintain inspection records, supporting cross-functional work with Production and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Quality inspection experience within heavy engineering, metal fabrication or machining.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience inspecting welded or fabricated components.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Able to collaborate across Quality, Production and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Dimensional and visual inspection of machined metal components.

• Surface-finish checks using precision measuring equipment.

• Goods Inwards and final inspection of completed machinery.

Job description

We currently have a permanent opportunity for an experienced QC Inspector with a background in heavy engineering, metal fabrication or machine-shop inspection.

The role

• Dimensional and visual inspection of machined metal components
• Inspection of welded and fabricated assemblies
• Surface-finish checks using precision measuring equipment
• Ferrite testing and Positive Material Identification (PMI)
• Goods Inwards and final inspection of completed machinery
• Reading engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
• Raising NCRs and supporting investigations and corrective actions
• Maintaining inspection records, traceability and quality documentation

What we’re looking for

• Quality inspection experience within metal fabrication, machining or heavy engineering
• Confidence interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances
• Experience inspecting welded or fabricated components
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001
• A practical, thorough approach and confidence working across Quality, Production and Engineering
