Job summary

Quality Control Inspector – Precision Engineering

Leeds

Full-time | Permanent

We are recruiting a Quality Control Inspector to join a successful and growing precision engineering business based in Kirkstall, Leeds.

The company has an established reputation for producing high-quality precision-engineered components for demanding sectors, including the medical industry, and this is an excellent opportunity to join the business at an exciting stage of its growth.

Working closely with colleagues across Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing, you'll play an important role in ensuring components meet the required quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

The Role

This is a hands-on Quality Control position where you'll be responsible for inspecting precision-engineered components at different stages of production.

Your role will include:

• Carrying out in-process and final inspection of manufactured components
• Completing First, Middle and Last Off inspections and associated sign-offs
• Using a range of precision measurement and inspection equipment
• Recording inspection results and maintaining accurate quality documentation
• Identifying and escalating potential product quality issues
• Raising and supporting non-conformance documentation where required
• Working with colleagues to investigate inspection or measurement discrepancies
• Supporting the investigation of product non-conformances
• Helping ensure effective handovers and continuity of inspection work
• Working closely with Manufacturing and Quality colleagues to maintain high standards and resolve problems

You’ll be working with a variety of inspection and measurement equipment which could include CMM systems, optical measurement equipment, gauges, micrometers and calipers, depending on your existing experience.

About You

We’re looking for someone with experience of quality inspection within an engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally involving precision-machined or similarly close-tolerance components.

You don't need experience with every inspection system or piece of equipment used by the business. What's more important is that you understand the principles of accurate dimensional inspection, are comfortable using precision measuring equipment and take pride in getting things right.

You may already be working as a Quality Inspector, QC Inspector or Engineering Inspector, or perhaps have developed strong inspection and measurement skills within manufacturing for the medical industry or similar regulated sector. Experience with CMM or optical measurement systems would be useful.
