Southeastern is seeking a Quality & Compliance Officer based at Ashford Engineering Depot. You will manage and develop the QMS, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations across Fleet Maintenance and the supply chain.

You will drive continual improvement through PDCA, run internal audits, report on performance, and advise management on quality issues. A solid knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems is essential to translate standards into practical

Responsibilities

  • Drive process improvement and PDCA-based continual improvement.
  • Identify KPIs related to QMS and effectiveness.
  • Conduct and manage internal audits and corrective actions.
  • Develop the QMS for Fleet Maintenance meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee Corrective/Preventive Action processes and verify effectiveness.
  • Advise maintenance management on quality assurance issues.
  • Produce reports and participate in management reviews.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 and related standards.

Job description

We are seeking a Quality & Compliance Officer to join our team based from Ashford Engineering Depot. You will be responsible for the ongoing management and development of southeastern Engineering's Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with business requirements, industry standards and customer expectations. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business and supply chain, you will promote quality best practice, drive consistency within Fleet Maintenance processes and support supplier assurance activities to ensure high standards of performance and compliance. You will monitor and report on quality and compliance performance, identifying trends, areas of weakness and opportunities for improvement, while recommending and supporting the implementation of effective corrective actions.,

  • Drive process improvement, challenging and supporting functional managers through a PDCA-cycle of continual improvement. Apply quality planning and risk assessment tools to ensure that the established processes can meet requirements.
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that relate to the QMS and its effectiveness.
  • Conduct and manage programme of internal audits and plans for individual audits. Apply business and quality systems knowledge to make recommendations and raise Corrective Actions when appropriate.
  • Coordinate and support the continued development of the QMS for Fleet Maintenance ensuring a comprehensive and coherent system is in place that meets the requirements of southeastern's Railway Safety Management System, Legislation, Industry Standards and business needs.
  • Manage the Corrective / Preventive Action process (internal & external) and ensure that actions are completed in a timely manner. Verify the effectiveness of the actions taken.
  • Advise the fleet maintenance management team on quality assurance issues. Highlight concerns relating to current quality compliance or opportunities for improvement in reports and at management review meetings.
  • Produce reports relating to the above areas of accountability.
  • Undertake other quality related duties as required.
  • Knowledge of standards such as ISO 9001 and industry-specific compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and quality assurance principles.
  • Ability to maintain, improve, and govern documented management systems.
  • Ability to translate standards and requirements into practical business processes.
  • Clear and concise report writing.
  • Ability to communicate complex quality information in an understandable way.
  • Supports teams through process changes while maintaining engagement and compliance.

Salary £48,000 to £51,000 per annum dependent on experience plus free travel
