Job summary

PrepWorld is seeking a Quality Assurance Technologist (Nights) in Northfleet. You will uphold food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity throughout production, verify CCPs, perform GMP checks, and maintain QA documentation.

You’ll also develop detector programmes and support the Taste Panel and Print Room operations. The role requires strong English literacy, a proactive attitude, and team collaboration, with preferable experience in food production and print-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food safety, quality, legality and authenticity across production processes.
• Assess fruit quality and ensure compliance with specs and CCPs.
• Verify CCPs and maintain GMP in daily checks.
• Complete QA paperwork recording daily tasks, checks and audits.
• Identify and report quality, safety or compliance concerns to QA Supervisors.
• Create programmes for metal detectors and check weighers; troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct internal audits (CCP, GMP, Fabrication, Glass/Hard Plastic).
• Collect samples for microbiological testing and follow sampling plans.

Job description

The Quality Assurance Technologist (Nights) is responsible for ensuring that all products and production processes comply with food safety, legality, authenticity, and quality requirements at every stage of the manufacturing process.

Main Duties

• Monitor and uphold all food safety, quality, and legal requirements.
• Assess the quality of fruit throughout the production process to ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications.
• Verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) to ensure all critical limits are consistently met.
• Carry out daily checks on factory processes and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Complete all QA paperwork accurately and consistently to record daily tasks, checks, and audits.
• Maintain a strong understanding of company policies and procedures to support compliance and challenge non‑conformance where required.
• Identify and report any quality, food safety, or compliance concerns to QA Supervisors or the Customer Technical Team for prompt resolution.
• Create new programmes in metal detectors and check weighers, and troubleshoot any issues during production.
• Conduct detailed internal audits, including CCP, GMP, Fabrication, Glass and Hard Plastic, and other required assessments.
• Collect and register product samples for microbiological testing.
• Follow the sampling plan to correctly take and accurately register swabs, air plates, and water samples.
• Follow all required personal hygiene practices and report any non‑conformance.
• Maintain an organised, tidy, and efficient working environment within the Technical Office and production areas.
• Retrieve and collate documentation to support traceability requests.
• Support and complete Print Room operations as required.
• Conduct daily Taste Panels as needed, supporting the Taste Panel Coordinator.
• Work proactively to identify and suggest improvements.
• Demonstrate a strong customer‑focused approach in all activities.
• Provide support to the wider Technical Team when needed.

Hours and Days of Work

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
(17:30 to 05:30 or shift pattern as applicable)

Pay

Starting at £13.06 per hour (plus £0.50 per hour night shift allowance), paid weekly. Rising to £13.80 per hour after full training, (plus £0.50 per hour night shift allowance).
