Job summary

Alexander Steele is seeking a Quality Assurance Technologist to join its manufacturing technical team in Scotland. You will ensure products are safe, legal, authentic and of consistently high quality, taking ownership of investigations and improvements.

You will maintain the Quality Management System, lead quality projects, review data for risks and opportunities, and provide cover for senior QA roles, with a focus on continuous improvement and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Quality/Technical role within food or beverage manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of food safety, quality management systems and compliance.
• Ability to interpret accreditation standards and translate into procedures.
• Attention to detail with audits and quality data management.
• Practical, hands-on problem solving and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with retailer specs and labelling is advantageous.
• Degree in Food Safety or related field is beneficial but not essential.
• HACCP and Food Hygiene qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Investigate customer complaints, quality incidents and product quarantines; identify root causes and support corrective actions.
• Maintain the site's Quality Management System and document control activities.
• Manage and improve quality checks, including kiosk and SOP requirements.
• Lead allocated quality projects aligned with site and Group objectives.
• Review quality data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct GMP, traceability and shop-floor compliance audits.
• Support responses to customer complaints and information requests.
• Create and maintain retailer quality attribute sheets.
• Collate technical data and Group information as required.
• Complete scheduled TACCP horizon scanning activities.
• Provide cover for the Quality Manager and Technical Services Manager when required.
