Job summary

EDF Energy in Leiston (Sizewell B) is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to support, monitor and improve the station's integrated management system and audit programme to meet Nuclear Site License requirements.

You will lead or participate in audits, review quality plans and specifications, and guide process owners to ensure consistent quality standards across the site while maintaining independence and strong communication with all levels.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an HNC level qualification or equivalent.
  • Lead auditor qualifications for ISO9001 would be desirable.
  • Experience auditing integrated management system as a lead auditor.
  • Able to discuss audit scope, objectives and findings with internal and external auditees at all levels.
  • Able to demonstrate independence of mind, impartiality and objectivity in all situations.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and in writing at all levels.
  • Has a sound appreciation of an effective management system in the nuclear or other technically oriented industry.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Quality Management Group Head in establishing, implementing and maintaining a coherent and integrated management system.
  • Implements and manages the company station management system manual for the station.
  • Prepares and manages station audit / outage surveillance programmes to improve process / areas of poor performance.
  • Acts as a Lead Auditor or an Auditor to provide independence to confirm adequate arrangements are in place for satisfying site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives and procedures.
  • Arranges and conducts audits as Lead Auditor, and monitors closeout of corrective actions and supervises and assesses the performance of trainee auditors / lead auditors.
  • Implements outage quality assurance requirements to support successful outage outcomes.
  • Assists in investigating Significant Events, as requested to challenge the quality assurance requirements, and reflect the station audit programme with effectiveness reviews / emergent audits.
  • Reviews of Quality Plans and Contract Enquiry Technical Specifications, in consultation with the Specifier.
  • Attends contract inaugural meetings ensuring that suppliers understand the contractual quality requirements and are made aware of our standards and expectations.
  • Provides management system expertise, support and guidance to the station process owners, departments and process owners to assist them in ensuring that quality standards are met with a consistent approach and that good practice is shared throughout the business unit.
  • Supports training staff regarding the Graded Application of Quality Assurance, development and use of quality plans and for the Stations Process Owners regarding process management.
  • Collates lessons learnt from Fleet Process Audit findings in which the station did not participate, and from LRQA findings from all sites, and facilitates their review where applicable by the Station Process Owner.
  • Completes effectiveness reviews on the implementation of lessons learnt from the audits / inspections / surveillances / interventions as agreed by the station management team.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement at local and business level and communicates these appropriately.
  • Supports the station with external assessments, and ensures staff are aware of the expectations of these groups.

About the Role
The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity at Sizewell B Power Station to join our team of Quality Assurance professionals, TSSD.

The role supports, monitors and identifies opportunities for improvement for the ongoing development and implementation of Station Management Systems to meet the requirements of the Nuclear Site License and Company Quality Polices.

Candidates should understand the requirements for the implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of the station integrated management system. You’ll be working to meet the requirements of the site license and Company Quality Policies.

Candidates should understand the requirements of an effective management system and have experience in auditing integrated management systems, analysing business units performance and preparing audit reports to identify potential quality assurance shortfalls.

What You’ll Be Doing

Who You Are
  • As a minimum, applicants must hold a relevant HNC level qualification or equivalent.
  • Lead auditor qualifications for ISO9001, 14001 and 45001 would be desirable
  • Experience of auditing integrated management system as a lead auditor
  • Able to confidently discuss audit scope, objectives and findings with internal and external auditees at all levels
  • Able to demonstrate independence of mind, impartiality and objectivity in all situations
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and in writing at all levels
  • Has a sound appreciation of an effective management system in the nuclear or other technically oriented industry

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
