ABOUT YOU

As Quality Assistant, you will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of Quality Assurance Principles and systems, and the ability to navigate complex situations with a focus on delivering outstanding service in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in use of QHSE systems
  • Fully Proficient in computer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Flexible approach to travel and working hours
  • A strong team player with some experience in the QHSE agenda in laboratory facilities

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Quality Assistant role focuses on maintaining and developing systems and procedures, in conjunction with the QHSE Manager, to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. You will serve as a resource for management, providing advice on best practices related to health and safety.

Key activities:

  • Collaborate with the QHSE Manager to be a UKAS point of contact at Intertek Leigh for compliance and accreditation requirements, overseeing UKAS audits, improvement actions, and non-compliance resolutions.
  • Support the Quality Systems team at Intertek Leigh and work closely with laboratory staff, maintaining good relationships.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the Quality Management Systems, communicating changes to relevant staff.
  • Act as an internal quality auditor, and nominate additional auditors if needed.
  • Support calibration and servicing of laboratory equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a register of current and upcoming health and safety legislation and interpret standards.
  • Create training materials and audit programs for health, safety, and quality management systems, identifying staff training needs.
  • Ensure a Health and Safety Policy is in place, report incidents, lead safety inspections, and promote safe practices.
  • Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and root causes, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain proficiency test results and investigate incidents and near misses.
  • Hold safety meetings with site management, safety representatives, and first aiders.
  • Ensure risk assessments are documented and accessible.
  • Assist in producing operational budgets related to QHSE requirements.
