Job summary

HCA UK is seeking a qualified Quality and Risk Manager for The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham. The role focuses on governance, incident investigation, risk management and adherence to regulatory standards, reporting to senior leadership and hospital committees.

The ideal candidate will lead investigations, drive learning responses and support continuous quality improvement within a multi-site healthcare group, with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to change.

Role: Quality and Risk ManagerLocation: The Harborne Hospital, BirminghamFull-time, 37.5 hours per weekPermanentOn site 5 days a weekCompetitive salary + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)We’re looking for an experienced Quality and Risk Manager to join our Governance team based at The Harborne Hospital.As the Quality and Risk Manager, you will lead on the implementation and delivery of a range of governance activities with a particular focus on risk, incidents and complaint investigations, whilst supporting The Harborne Hospital to meet the regulatory requirements of external standards and inspections.The ideal candidate will be a specialist resource, using knowledge and experience of governance, with a particular focus on incident, complaint and risk management. This will include managing and coordinating investigations and learning responses of all incidents, which involves liaising with Heads of Department and the Senior Leadership Team.Excellent communication and a proven ability to implement change, or new systems, are essential for the role. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and be experienced in clinical governance.Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. This includes monitoring action plans and quality improvement workTo create and present reports to relevant Hospital committees, including trend analysis and advice for key stakeholdersImplementation and monitoring of the facility-wide Audit Programme including working with Heads of Department (HoD) to develop robust action plans that provide improvements to care and service deliveredWork with the HCA UK Corporate Clinical Services Department and local Heads of Departments (HoD) to ensure a standardised approach to CQC inspection compliance is maintainedAct as the Policy Controller and direct the policy reviewer where needed.Responsibility for overseeing and implementing the risk management processes, including regular reviews of the departmental and facility risk registerSkills and experience:Knowledge of developing and embedding governance frameworksKnowledge of CQC inspection and other healthcare accreditations frameworksPrevious experience and knowledge of governance, incident & risk management and quality improvementGood IT skills including Excel, Word, Microsoft OfficeExcellent communication skills, both verbal & written, including good presentation skillsWhy HCA UK?Originally founded over 50 years ago by Dr Thomas Frist, HCA has gone on to become one of the world’s leading healthcare providers.
