Job summary

HCA UK is seeking an experienced Quality and Risk Manager for The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham. The role leads on governance activities with focus on incident, risk and complaint investigations, ensuring compliance with external standards and inspections.

You will coordinate investigations, liaise with Heads of Department and Senior Leadership Team, and drive learning responses to improve patient care and safety within a multidisciplinary governance team.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of developing and embedding governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of CQC inspection and other healthcare accreditation frameworks.
  • Experience in governance, incident & risk management and quality improvement.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Word, Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement incident management processes and PSIRF principles, monitor action plans and improvements.
  • Create and present reports to hospital committees with trend analysis.
  • Implement and monitor the facility-wide Audit Programme with departmental action plans.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Clinical Services and HoDs to standardise CQC inspection compliance.
  • Act as Policy Controller and guide policy reviewers where needed.
  • Oversee and implement risk management processes and regularly review risk registers.

Role: Quality and Risk Manager Location: The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Permanent On site 5 days a week Competitive salary + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development) We’re looking for an experienced Quality and Risk Manager to join our Governance team based at The Harborne Hospital. As the Quality and Risk Manager, you will lead on the implementation and delivery of a range of governance activities with a particular focus on risk, incidents and complaint investigations, whilst supporting The Harborne Hospital to meet the regulatory requirements of external standards and inspections. The ideal candidate will be a specialist resource, using knowledge and experience of governance, with a particular focus on incident, complaint and risk management. This will include managing and coordinating investigations and learning responses of all incidents, which involves liaising with Heads of Department and the Senior Leadership Team. Excellent communication and a proven ability to implement change, or new systems, are essential for the role. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and be experienced in clinical governance. Duties And Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for overseeing and implementing the incident management processes and applying the principles of PSIRF. This includes monitoring action plans and quality improvement work
  • To create and present reports to relevant Hospital committees, including trend analysis and advice for key stakeholders
  • Implementation and monitoring of the facility-wide Audit Programme including working with Heads of Department (HoD) to develop robust action plans that provide improvements to care and service delivered
  • Work with the HCA UK Corporate Clinical Services Department and local Heads of Departments (HoD) to ensure a standardised approach to CQC inspection compliance is maintained
  • Act as the Policy Controller and direct the policy reviewer where needed.
  • Responsibility for overseeing and implementing the risk management processes, including regular reviews of the departmental and facility risk register
Skills And Experience
  • Knowledge of developing and embedding governance frameworks
  • Knowledge of CQC inspection and other healthcare accreditations frameworks
  • Previous experience and knowledge of governance, incident & risk management and quality improvement
  • Good IT skills including Excel, Word, Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written, including good presentation skills
