Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Quality Engineer/Quality Advisor to support the EGL2 project in South & East Yorkshire. The role focuses on driving Right First Time through QA activities, developing Quality Plans and ITPs, and ensuring supplier and site compliance.

You will coordinate audits, support digital governance, and promote continuous improvement across delivery teams. Ideal candidates will have Level 4 or higher in Quality/Construction/Manufacturing, ACQI membership, and ISO 9001:2015

Qualifications

  • Experience in Quality Management within construction, infrastructure, manufacturing or related industries.
  • CQI Affiliate Membership (ACQI) or higher is preferred.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor qualification is desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement quality assurance activities to drive Right First Time culture.
  • Develop and implement Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Review supply chain quality documentation for compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor and report quality KPIs against project targets.
  • Support digital quality systems and manage quality issues across delivery teams.
  • Maintain Quality Management System processes and coordinate audits and handovers.

About The Role

Balfour Beatty Power T&D has a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Engineer / Quality Advisor to join our growing team supporting the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) Project based in South & East Yorkshire. EGL2 is a major energy infrastructure project that will play a critical role in strengthening the UK's electricity network and supporting the transition to a greener future. What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Quality Engineer/Advisor, Quality Manager or Head of Quality, you will support the delivery of a Right First Time culture through the coordination and implementation of quality assurance activities across the project. You will play a key role in ensuring quality standards are achieved, supporting project teams, driving continuous improvement, and helping to maintain compliance with both client and business requirements.

  • Supporting project teams in the development and implementation of Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Reviewing supply chain quality documentation and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitoring and reporting quality performance against agreed project and business KPIs.
  • Implementing quality control measures that provide assurance that assets and services are delivered as designed and specified.
  • Supporting delivery teams with digital quality and governance systems and assisting with the management of quality issues.
  • Maintaining local quality processes within the Quality Management System.
  • Conducting internal audits and supporting external certification and Balfour Beatty audits.
  • Coordinating project quality deliverables and handover documentation.
  • Delivering quality awareness, development and training initiatives across project teams.
  • Promoting the sharing of lessons learned and best practice.
  • Supporting management reviews and implementation of agreed actions.
  • Assisting with investigations into quality-related issues and implementing improvement actions.
Who we're looking for
  • Experience within Quality Management, ideally within construction, infrastructure, manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Level 4 qualification or above in Quality, Construction, Manufacturing or a relevant discipline.
  • CQI Affiliate Membership (ACQI) or higher.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse information objectively and make informed decisions.
  • Understanding of quality management methodologies, tools and systems.
  • Awareness of change management principles and continuous improvement techniques.
