Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting for a Qualified Teacher to join an Alternative Provision in Carlisle. The role is permanent and full-time, commencing January 2027, delivering engaging lessons across Maths, English and Science to secondary students with additional learning needs.

You will adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs, maintain positive behaviour, and build strong relationships to support learners in achieving their potential within an alternative setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Experience delivering Maths, English and Science at secondary level.
• Experience in Alternative Provision, SEND or SEMH is desirable.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to support students with challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across Maths, English and Science.

Job description

Salary: £165 - £250 per day (Paid to Scale)

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Alternative Provision based in Carlisle, who are looking to appoint a dedicated Qualified Teacher. The setting supports secondary-aged students who benefit from an alternative approach to mainstream education, with a focus on providing engaging learning opportunities, building confidence and helping young people achieve positive outcomes.

The provision is looking to take on a Qualified Teacher on a permanent, full-time basis from January 2027. The successful Qualified Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons across core subjects including Maths, English and Science, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs whilst maintaining positive behaviour management and a supportive classroom environment.

The successful Qualified Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with relevant secondary teaching experience
• Experience delivering core subjects including Maths, English and Science at secondary level
• Experience working within an Alternative Provision, SEND or SEMH setting would be desirable
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to support students with challenging behaviours
