Are you a skilled and compassionate Qualified Social Worker with experience in adoption assessments? Join a highly regarded Adoption Service in East Riding of Yorkshire and contribute to life-changing decisions for children and families. We're seeking an interim social worker to complete a range of adoption assessments, with a particular focus on step-parent adoptions. You may also be involved in other assessments across the service, depending on needs.

About the Role

As part of a specialist adoption team, you will:

  • Undertake step-parent adoption assessments and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and analytical reports to present to adoption panels.
  • Liaise with families, children, legal teams, and other professionals throughout the assessment process.
  • Apply sound judgement to assess parenting capacity and the child’s best interests.
  • Support positive permanency outcomes for children.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and legal proceedings where required.

What We're Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • 4+ years’ post-qualified experience, ideally within adoption, permanency planning, or children’s services.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting comprehensive assessments for adoption panels.
  • In-depth knowledge of adoption legislation, the Adoption and Children Act 2002, and related guidance.
  • Strong communication, report writing, and multi-agency working skills.
  • A child-centred, empathetic approach with high professional standards.
