Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Motor Vehicle Technician for our Sherwood Park Workshop. The role involves servicing and repairing ambulances, fast response vehicles, minibuses, cars and support vehicles, with focus on emergency service equipment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Engineering qualification and have post-training experience, preferably on LCVs up to 7.5 tonnes.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering or equivalent is required.
• One year post-training experience working on vehicles, preferably LCVs up to 7.5 tonnes.
• MOT tester's certificate and auto electrical skills would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and mechanical repairs on ambulances and fast response vehicles.
• Maintain a range of Trust vehicles and their equipment at the Sherwood Park Workshop.

Job description

The post will entail the servicing and mechanical repairs of Ambulances and Fast Response vehicles at our new workshop facility. It is an exciting opportunity to broaden your mechanical experience to work on the specialised equipment on emergency service vehicles as well as our Fleet., An excellent opportunity exists for a qualified Motor Vehicle Technician to join our team based at our Sherwood Park Workshop. The role involves maintaining a range of vehicles and their associated equipment operated by the Trust including Ambulances, minibuses, cars and support vehicles. You should have an appropriate qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering, The post will entail the servicing and mechanical repairs of Ambulances and Fast Response vehicles. It is an exciting opportunity to broaden your mechanical experience to work on the specialised equipment on emergency service vehicles.

You should have an appropriate Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering or equivalent, with one years post training experience of working on vehicles of all types but in particular LCVs up to 7.5 tonnes would be advantageous. An MOT testers certificate and auto electrical skills would be an advantage. The applicant will need a C1 Driving Licence or be prepared to attain this within the 9 month probation period. The hours of work are 07:00 - 17:00 on a shift rota including weekends and Bank Holidays. Pay is NHS Band 5 plus recruitment and retention payment of 15% plus extra uplift on top for working shifts.
