The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in Coventry is seeking a Qualified Habilitation Specialist to deliver mobility and independence training to children and young people with vision impairment. You will assess individual needs, design tailored programmes and provide person-centred support across home, education and community settings.
You will work 35 hours per week, with flexibility for evenings or occasional weekends, as part of the Midlands & East region.

As a Qualified Habilitation Specialist at Guide Dogs, you’ll deliver specialist mobility and independence training to children and young people, including those with complex needs, helping them build the skills they need to confidently navigate the world. The Qualified Habilitation Specialist will be an expert in assessing individual needs, designing tailored habilitation programmes, and providing practical, person‑centred support in a range of settings. Our Habilitation Specialists play a huge part in ensuring everything we do enables us to deliver on our purpose and exceed expectations.
This role is part of the Coventry Team and supports the Midlands & East region, covering Coventry, Solihull, Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Warwickshire. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm. Some flexibility is required to occasionally work outside of core hours, including evenings and, on rare occasions, weekends.
You’ll have a person‑centred and collaborative approach to teaching mobility and independence skills, alongside carrying out assessments and developing tailored support plans. You’ll enjoy working in a variety of settings including home, education and community environments, with a dedicated focus on supporting children and young people to develop confidence and independence, whilst being committed to delivering high‑quality, safe and effective services. You’ll act with integrity and honesty in everything you do.
