Job summary

Badham Pharmacy in Gloucester (Kingsway) seeks a Dispensing Assistant to join a family-owned chain delivering patient-centred care since 1940. The role is full-time (40 hours) with shifts Mon-Fri 8:30/9:00 to 17:30/18:00 and one in four Saturdays 9-12.

Trainee rates start at £12.71 and £13.46 for qualified dispensers, plus holidays, discounts and pension support. You will manufacture dosette trays, prepare prescriptions, support the dispensing team, advise customers and highlight our Pharmacy

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in dispensing completed or in progress with trainee pathway
• Enrolment on NVQ3/ACD/ACT courses to progress
• Experience supporting dispensing in a busy pharmacy is beneficial

Job description

Badham Pharmacy is a family owned chain of 28 pharmacies across Gloucestershire and Bristol, serving patients since 1940, and with a long history of exceptional patient-centred care.

This vacancy is in our Kingsway, Gloucester branch and will be 40 hours a week. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 08.30-17.30 or 09.00-18.00 with 1 in 4 Saturdays working 9-12pm

Our starting rates of pay are competitive starting at £12.71 for trainees and £13.46 for those who already hold a dispensing qualification and are based on experience. The Dispensing Assistant is an integral member of the pharmacy team. You are one of the first people many customers will see when coming into the pharmacy, speak to when seeking healthcare advice and interact with when collecting a prescription or ask for help when they wish to purchase a medicine. In addition you can expect your day to day duties to include:-

• Manufacturing dosette trays for our local community patients who need extra support in organising medication
• Downloading and preparing prescriptions that have been sent from a local surgery or a customer has arrived to collect
• Supporting the medicines counter assistant and pharmacist in their roles
• Having effective conversations with customers, ensuring that they get the right level of care and medication for their needs
• Engaging with customers , around the large amount of additional services that we offer, including the Pharmacy First scheme

As a qualified dispenser you will have an NVQ2 in dispensing either the National Pharmacy Association (or equivalent provider). For the trainee dispenser role, the successful applicant will be enrolled on this course with expected completion taking 9-12 months, after which a pay review would follow.

We also like to progress our own staff through their careers and can actively support with enrolments onto the NVQ3 technician course, Accuracy Checking for Dispensers (ACD) or Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) courses
