Job summary

Kamsons Pharmacy in Brighton is seeking a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant to join our busy community pharmacy team on a Monday to Friday 1:30pm–6:30pm shift. You will train towards NVQ Level 2 dispensing assistant, learn to label and dispense prescriptions, and provide excellent customer service while ensuring accurate records and safe medicine supply.

Starting rate up to £12.71 per hour, with progression on successful course completion.

Qualifications

• Willingness to train toward NVQ Level 2 dispensing assistant.
• Accurate dispensing of prescriptions under SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Label and dispense prescriptions accurately in line with SOPs.
• Ensure safe supply and storage of medicines.
• Order stock to meet demand and check dates to minimise waste.
• Create and update patient medication records with confidentiality.
• Assist with preparation of dosage systems for patients on multiple meds.
• Check NHS declarations and send data correctly for payments.
• Process invoices and paperwork per procedures.
• Keep dispensary and back shop tidy and clean.
• Collaborate with the team to meet business objectives.
• Liaise with local surgeries and healthcare professionals on medication supply.
• Participate in delivery of additional healthcare services after training.

If so you could be a great candidate and should consider the opportunity of joining us to train as a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant in one of our busy and modern community pharmacies located in Brighton.

Monday to Friday 1:30pm -6:30pm

Starting rate of pay: Up to £12.71 per hour- This will increase on successful completion of NVQ Level 2 dispensing assistant course.

The job is fast paced- the day really does fly by! You will be involved in different workstreams throughout the day as part of a team to achieve our goal of safely supplying medication, healthcare services and advice to our customers and the local community.

Our teams are small, friendly and work closely together – you will become an integral part of the team from the very start of your journey with Kamsons. Great communication with your colleagues and a teamly can-do attitude will be the key to success.

Within 3-6months of starting the role you will have the opportunity to undertake and work towards an NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant course.

*There is a requirement for candidates to be placed on the correct course relevant to their role in pharmacy to further develop your understanding of the role

Main roles and responsibilities will include:

• Label and dispense prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures in an efficient and accurate manner.
• Ensure the safe supply and appropriate storage of medicines.
• Ordering sufficient medication and stock in line with company procedures to meet customer demand and date/usage checking to maximise availability and minimise waste.
• Create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
• Assist where necessary with the preparation of monitored dosage systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes.
• Accurately check patient declarations on prescriptions and send data correctly to the NHS to ensure maximum payments are received with minimal losses.
• Process invoices and paperwork in a timely manner following company procedures.
• Undertake all necessary housekeeping duties so that dispensary and back shop areas are kept clean and tidy.
• Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
• Liaise with local surgeries and other healthcare professionals and handle queries regarding medication supply to ensure patients with medication and healthcare needs are met.
• Participate in the delivery of any additional healthcare services for which you will have received adequate training.
