Job summary

VTCT Skills is seeking a Qualifications Development Expert to join our Qualification and Assessment Development team in the UK. You will help shape and maintain qualifications across vocational sectors, working with employers, regulators and internal teams.

You will lead qualification content development, ensure regulatory alignment and manage projects to time and budget while leveraging your experience in assessment design and awarding organisations.

Qualifications

• Experience developing qualifications, assessments or educational resources.
• Strong understanding of qualification and assessment design principles.
• Excellent project management, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within a regulated environment and interpreting regulatory requirements.
• Experience with awarding organisations and qualification endorsement activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review and maintenance of qualifications, assessments and supporting resources.
• Manage qualification development projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, quality standards and budgets.
• Work with subject matter experts, employers and industry stakeholders to shape qualification content.
• Ensure qualifications meet regulatory requirements and awarding organisation standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Assessment Development, Quality Assurance and Product teams.
• Monitor sector developments and contribute to qualification improvement and new product opportunities.

Job description

Are you passionate about creating high-quality qualifications that support learners, employers and industry? Do you have experience developing qualifications, assessments or educational resources within a regulated environment?

We are looking for a Qualifications Development Expert (QDE) to join our Qualification and Assessment Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development, review and maintenance of qualifications that make a real difference across a range of vocational sectors.

Working closely with employers, industry specialists, regulatory bodies and internal teams, you will ensure our qualifications remain relevant, compliant and aligned with current industry needs.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the development, review and maintenance of qualifications, assessments and supporting resources.
• Manage qualification development projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, quality standards and budgets.
• Work with subject matter experts, employers and industry stakeholders to shape qualification content.
• Ensure qualifications meet regulatory requirements and awarding organisation standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Assessment Development, Quality Assurance and Product teams.
• Monitor sector developments and contribute to qualification improvement and new product opportunities.

What You'll Bring

• Experience developing qualifications, assessments, learning materials or educational resources.
• Strong understanding of qualification and assessment design principles.
• Excellent project management, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within a regulated environment and interpreting regulatory requirements.
• Relevant teaching qualification, Assessor and IQA qualification.
• Level 3 (or above) vocational qualification together with Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Expert knowledge of educational assessment and qualification frameworks.
• Experience working within an awarding organisation.
• Experience working with regulators, employers and professional bodies.
• Experience contributing to qualification endorsement or portfolio review activities.
