Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a QTS Maths & English Tutor for a 1:1 placement in Cramlington. The role involves delivering tailored lessons to a Year 10 pupil with SEMH, ADHD, and potential ASD, 6 hours per week in a family hub.

You must hold QTS and be able to plan, deliver and assess progress. GBP30 per hour is paid; drivers are welcome but not required. Full/part-time hours available, with flexible timetabling to suit the student’s needs.

Responsibilities

QTS Maths & English Tutor

GBP30 per hour

We are currently working with Northumberland Council to provide 1-to-1 tuition to a young person who has been Permanently Excluded. They are in Year 10 and have a variety of SEMH conditions, alongside ADHD and potential ASD.

Tuition with this student is for 6 hours per week within Cramlington Family Hub. The 6 hours is split into three 2-hour sessions throughout the week. This is the perfect opportunity for a qualified teacher looking to leave the classroom. We can also match you with additional students if you are looking for more hours and build up your timetable.

Due to the nature of the roles available, a driver who is willing to travel would be ideal, but not a requirement. Within this role, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons as a means of alternate education. One of your aims will be to support and re-engage a pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine, continue their educational development and aid their return to school.

QTS is essential for this role.

Information about the role

The desired candidate will have

• Experience tutoring Maths and English on a 1:1 or small group basis
• QTS
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils

• Hold a right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to complete a new application
• Provide references to cover the last two years of employment
• The ability to commit to the young person and work for the duration of the placement
