Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic After School Tutor with QTS to deliver curriculum-aligned Maths and English tuition up to GCSE in Barnet. This temporary, part-time role offers flexible hours and a supportive environment.

You will plan personalised lessons, adapt to varied learning needs, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback. An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and the right to work in the UK are essential.

Job Title: After School QTS Tutor - GCSE Core
Location: Barnet
Pay Rate: 25- 35 per hour
Job Type: Temporary Part-Time Flexible Hours

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and curriculum- aligned tuition in Maths and English up to GCSE level.
• Plan and deliver personalised lessons that meet individual learning needs.
• Support students with a range of abilities, including those with additional learning needs.
• Monitor progress, set achievable targets, and provide constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive and motivating learning environment.

Requirements:

• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential.
• Experience teaching Maths and/or English at secondary GCSE level.
• Strong subject knowledge and abiity to adapt lessons to different learners.
• Enhanced DBS check ( or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

Desired:

• Experience supporting students with SEN or SEMH needs.

Background in tutoring or delivering targeted interventions.

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English.
• Experience working with learners with SEN in a 1:1 or small group setting.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable Qualifications:

• PGCE in Secondary Education and/or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience with students who have Autism, ADHD or SEMH needs.
