Job summary

Lonza in Slough is seeking a Scientist for QC Product Testing & Stability to perform analytical testing of therapeutic protein samples in a GMP environment. You will apply HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry and other methods, review data against specifications and contribute to stability studies and quality investigations.

The role is site-based, requiring close collaboration with Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing to ensure medicines meet the highest standards

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific discipline.
• Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical/biological lab environments.
• Practical knowledge of analytical techniques (HPLC, CE, spectrophotometry).
• Understanding of cGMP principles in a quality-controlled lab.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; data interpretation and trend identification.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills; collaborative in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on therapeutic protein samples using HPLC, CE, spectrophotometry and other methods per GMP SOPs.
• Review analytical data for accuracy and compare results to specifications; communicate observations to study directors and QA/Manufacturing.
• Prepare stability study protocols, testing summaries and technical reports to support stability programs.
• Support investigations, deviations and change controls; lead routine quality investigations when appropriate.
• Mentor colleagues and promote best laboratory practices; contribute to equipment and reagent management.

Join Lonza's QC Product Testing & Stability team in Slough and play a key role in ensuring the quality and stability of therapeutic protein products that help improve patients' lives. This is an exciting opportunity for a laboratory-based scientist to apply analytical expertise in a regulated GMP environment while developing technical and quality assurance experience.

This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

Perform analytical testing on therapeutic protein samples using techniques including HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry and other physicochemical methods in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and study protocols.

Review analytical data for technical accuracy, interpret results against specifications, identify trends and communicate observations to key stakeholders including Study Directors, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing.

Prepare stability study protocols, testing summaries and technical reports to support product quality and stability programmes.

Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs and change controls, independently leading routine quality investigations where appropriate.

Mentor and support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge, providing training and promoting best laboratory practices.

Contribute to laboratory operations through equipment monitoring, reagent and consumable management, housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work collaboratively across Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing to ensure customer, regulatory and business requirements are consistently met.

What we are looking for

Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant laboratory experience.

Experience working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biological laboratory environment.

Practical knowledge of analytical techniques such as HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, spectrophotometry or other protein characterisation methods.

Understanding of cGMP principles and their application within a quality-controlled laboratory.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.

Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to prioritise work and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
