Job summary

Westinghouse Springfields Fuel Ltd in Salwick near Preston seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer Lead to ensure products meet QA requirements and customer specifications. You will drive SPC, CAPs, and audits while maintaining ISO9001/14001/45001 certifications in a highly regulated nuclear fuels facility.

You will lead quality activities, mentor staff, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a safety-critical environment. Excellent analytical and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Typically Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) or experience of working within manufacturing as a Quality Engineer.
• Manufacturing quality assurance audit training and experience.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001.
• Experience in a customer-facing role; CQI practitioner desirable.

Responsibilities

• Certification of product to confirm it meets the requirements of a technical specification determined by our customer or internal technical team.
• Provide advice and decisions on potential non-conforming product, Quality Reviewer for related CAPs (Corrective Action Process), managing documentation (i.e., inspection schedules), and oversight of plant qualifications.
• Manage 'in process monitoring' and 'statistical process control' to ensure manufacturing parameters are maintained within a predetermined window.
• Support the auditing of external parties and accompanying the customer surveillance engineers along with attending customer Quality Meetings.
• Supporting our CAP to carry out corrective actions & carrying out first line quality investigations.
• Support the maintenance of certification to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
• Assist the Quality Manager with defining, measuring, and improving Key Performance Indicators based around the 5 pillars of Safety, Quality, Cost, People and Delivery.
