Job summary

Denholm Industrial Services Ltd is hiring an experienced QA Inspector for our Birkenhead site. You will oversee surface prep, coating application, inspection, and documentation to ensure compliance with project specs and client requirements.

Preference will be given to locals or those within reasonable commuting distance. You will work closely with production teams, managers and third-party inspectors to uphold high quality and safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Experience in QA/QC coating inspection or industrial painting inspection.
• Knowledge of industrial coating systems and surface preparation standards.
• Experience in marine, defence, oil & gas, infrastructure or heavy industry is advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, data sheets and inspection plans.
• Strong attention to detail and clear quality communication.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements on site.

Responsibilities

• Carry out quality checks on surface preparation, blasting, painting and industrial coating activities.
• Inspect coating works at each stage for compliance with specifications and client requirements.
• Monitor environmental conditions before coating application (temp, humidity, dew point, cleanliness).
• Check coating materials, batch numbers, expiry dates, mixing ratios, pot life and application methods.
• Record Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) where required.
• Identify defects or non-conformances and liaise with supervisors to resolve issues.
• Complete inspection reports, quality records and check sheets on time.
• Support the preparation of ITPs, quality plans, inspection records and handover packs.
• Ensure all work complies with safety procedures, permits and method statements.
• Collaborate with production teams, clients and inspectors to maintain high workmanship standards.

We are looking for an experienced QA Inspector to support industrial coating activities at our Birkenhead site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all surface preparation, coating application, inspection, and documentation activities are completed in line with project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. Due to the nature of the role and site requirements, preference will be given to candidates who are local to Birkenhead or within a reasonable commuting distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of ITPs, quality plans, inspection test records, and handover packs.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures, permits, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Work closely with production teams, supervisors, clients, and third-party inspectors to maintain high standards of workmanship.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a QA, QC, coating inspection, or industrial painting inspection role.
• Strong knowledge of industrial coating systems, surface preparation standards, and coating application processes.
• Experience working within marine, defence, oil and gas, infrastructure, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments would be advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, technical data sheets, inspection test plans, and quality documentation.
• Confident completing inspection records and communicating quality issues clearly and professionally.
• Good attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality concerns.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements within an industrial site environment.

Qualifications

• ICorr or NACE (Essential)
• Industrial coating, blasting, painting, or QA/QC background is preferred.
