Job summary

SiXworks in the United Kingdom is seeking a QA Infrastructure Test Engineer to safeguard the reliability, security and performance of physical infrastructure and IaC platforms across delivery teams.

You will apply the STLC and Shift-Left principles from requirements through planning, design, provisioning, execution and release, collaborating with DevSecOps and security teams to ensure readiness, accreditation, and compliance.

Qualifications

• STLC phases covered from requirement analysis to closure.
• Traceability, risk-based testing, defect lifecycle management, gating, evidence-led testing.
• Strong knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks.
• Familiarity with Secure by Design principles and MOD testing standards.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps and CI/CD environments.
• Knowledge of test management tools (Xray, TestRail, Zephyr, SpiraTest etc.) and integration with issue management systems (Jira/Azure DevOps).
• Certifications such as ISTQB or TOGAF desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyse infrastructure requirements and architectures; identify test conditions; maintain traceability; log risks.
• Create infrastructure-focused test strategies and plans defining scope, environments, tooling, automation, and governance entry/exit criteria.
• Provision and validate test environments in collaboration with DevSecOps, ensuring OS, network, platform services, monitoring, and pipelines align to readiness standards.
• Design and execute tests across physical infrastructure and IaC, including functional, integration, regression, resilience, non-functional, and security-related scenarios.
• Apply Secure-by-Design principles; support security testing; contribute to accreditation, assurance, and compliance documentation.
• Manage defects with clear evidence; support retesting and regression; produce concise summaries, dashboards, and release recommendations.
