Javelin Global Commodities is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join its London-based technology team and help shape systems at the heart of a fast-moving global commodities business.

The role sits at the intersection of commodities trading and technology, offering hands-on work with traders, analysts and engineers. You will build and enhance practical software supporting trading, logistics, accounting, financing and operations, with a focus on Python development and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 3 - 5 years of hands‑on software engineering experience, with at least 2 years embedded with users delivering production applications in financial services, commodities or comparable enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy software that supports commodities trading, risk management and market-data processing, working closely with traders and operators to turn business needs into effective solutions.
• Write clean, scalable and maintainable code, primarily in Python 3.
• Partner with traders and quantitative analysts to understand strategies, identify opportunities and translate requirements into robust software.
• Enhance the reliability, performance and usability of applications across trading and operational workflows.
• Own well-defined development tasks from concept to delivery, communicating progress clearly and producing dependable solutions on time.
• Contribute ideas through technical design discussions and code reviews, and help strengthen our testing and software-development practices.
